Coding4TX is excited to partner with Youth Code Jam SATX to bring this popular event to our city with the inaugural Youth Code Jam ATX! Approximately 100 students, in grades 3 through 8, and their parents or guardians will attend, circulating a dozen stations featuring different coding languages and CS skills, each offering various activities or challenges. We need YOU to help us develop, organize, and staff those stations and provide a memorable experience for these families.
Youth Code Jam mentors share their technical expertise with students and help inspire the next generation of computer science gurus. All we ask is a few hours -- we'll also tempt you with pizza and a free T-shirt! -- and a willingness to encourage, guide, and inspire students!
Volunteers and station leaders can design the curriculum and activities based on their expertise. Past stations have included activities involving Scratch, cyber security, Arduino, Java, Web design (HTML), mobile apps, Python, C programming, Cloud, etc. Each station will have varied levels of challenges -- beginner, intermediate, advanced -- so students and their parent or guardian are able to attempt any topic no matter their ability level.
Youth Code Jam encourages students and their families to explore and enjoy coding and computer science, and hopefully inspire them to continue their pursuit at home and throughout their academic career.
